Thank you for your feedback on the proposed conceptual design of the Civic Plaza.

All citizen input on the proposed design will be collected and presented to Town Council for review and consideration.

The Civic Plaza is proposed to be a central gathering space (located at 5102 48 Avenue) next to the Ponoka Legion and across from the Alberta Provincial Courts building. This multi-use public space is intended for gatherings, recreation, events and community connection.

The Civic Plaza would be easily accessible by vehicle and by foot. Whether you’re attending an outdoor concert, enjoying a quiet afternoon in a green space or engaging in community events, the Civic Plaza will be a welcoming space to connect with others.

The current conceptual design for the Civic Plaza features:

  • Water fountains;
  • Landscaped gathering and seating areas with benches and picnic tables;
  • Public washrooms;
  • Bike racks;
  • Greenspace;
  • Lighting; and
  • Waste receptacles.

The proposed conceptual design is also considering moving the cenotaph to the Civic Plaza from its current location (south of 51 Street next to the Ponoka Drop-in Centre).
