Proposed Lions Centennial ParkThe Town of Ponoka is inviting your input and ideas on a conceptual design for improvements to Lions Centennial Park.

The proposed upgrades would transform Lions Centennial Park into a revitalized, multi-use public space for gatherings, recreation, events and community connection. The proposed conceptual design includes upgrades to the trails in the park to be easily accessible for walkers, joggers, cyclists, in-line skaters and wheelchairs.

Whether you’re attending an outdoor concert, enjoying a quiet afternoon in a green space or engaging in community events, the proposed design improvements focus on ensuring Lions Centennial Park is a welcoming space to connect with others.

The current conceptual design features the following proposed improvements:

  • Upgraded trails that are easily accessible for people with mobility challenges;
  • Naturalized walkway loops and connection paths;
  • An active recreation zone with the existing splash park, relocated playground and a new adventure park;
  • An additional dock;
  • New barbecue pits, picnic tables with shelters and park furniture;
  • Landscaping and fencing;
  • New public washrooms;
  • New lighting; and
  • Improvements to the existing public parking lot and museum parking lot.

The upgrades to Lions Centennial Park align with Council’s strategic priority of investing in Town infrastructure and building a vibrant community.

What Happens with My Input?

Once public input is gathered on the conceptual design, the Town of Ponoka will create a more detailed design based on the input received.

Construction of the Centennial Park will depend on future consideration and approval of the park designs, location and budget by Town Council.

  • No registration is required to take the Lions Centennial Park survey, and it only takes a few minutes to complete (see below). The survey will remain open until Sunday, May 24, at 11:59 p.m.

    Paper copies of the survey are also available at the Ponoka Aquaplex (5315 46 Avenue), Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street) and the Town Office on the second floor of the Ponoka Civic Centre (#200 5604 50 Street).
