Consultation has concluded.
Thank you for your feedback on the proposed upgrades to Lions Centennial Park.
All citizen input on the proposed design will be reviewed before determining next steps.
Conceptual Design of Lions Centennial Park
The proposed upgrades would transform Lions Centennial Park into a revitalized, multi-use public space for gatherings, recreation, events and community connection. The proposed conceptual design includes upgrades to the trails in the park to be easily accessible for walkers, joggers, cyclists, in-line skaters and wheelchairs.
Whether you’re attending an outdoor concert, enjoying a quiet afternoon in a green space or engaging in community events, the proposed design improvements focus on ensuring Lions Centennial Park is a welcoming space to connect with others.
The conceptual design features the following proposed improvements:
Upgraded trails that are easily accessible for people with mobility challenges;
Naturalized walkway loops and connection paths;
An active recreation zone with the existing splash park, relocated playground and a new adventure park;
An additional dock;
New barbecue pits, picnic tables with shelters and park furniture;
Landscaping and fencing;
New public washrooms;
New lighting; and
Improvements to the existing public parking lot and museum parking lot.

The upgrades to Lions Centennial Park align with Council’s strategic priority of investing in Town infrastructure and building a vibrant community.
What Happens with My Input?
Once public input is gathered on the conceptual design ideas, the Town of Ponoka will create a more detailed design based on the input received.
There are no plans for construction at this time. The project is only at the ‘ideas’ stage. Construction of the upgrades to Lions Centennial Park will depend on future consideration and approval of the facility design, location and budget by Town Council.
